THE HISTORY OF ASCENTS
- 1871 - discovery by the Russian expedition led by A. Fedchenko of the Zaalaysky ridge with a dominant peak, named after the Governor-General of Turkestan Kaufman.
- 1928 - a complex expedition of the USSR Academy of Sciences, which included German climbers E. Allwain, C. Wien, E. Schneider, the first to climb the peak from the south. The top was renamed to Lenin Peak;
- 1937 - the first ascent of Soviet climbers from the north (K. Chernukha, E. Abalakov, I. Lukin);
- 1968 - the world's first group high-altitude parachute jump was made on the slopes of Lenin Peak at an altitude of 6100 meters. But a few days later, when landing, four experienced paratroopers were killed on the top, who were blown away by a powerful gust of wind;
- 1968 - the first ski slope (V. Suloev);
- 1976 - a massive international anniversary expedition, as a result of which 301 people climbed the summit (including 60 foreign citizens);
- 2003 - parachute landing from the An-12 to the top of the Lenin peak of Dmitry Kiselev’s team.
